The French Revolution: A Reign of Terror Although inspired by the American Revolution, the French dream of freedom and equality quickly disintegrated into a nightmare. Students will study the luxurious life of Louis XVI and his court, their dramatic end, the chaos of mob justice and the guillotine, the ensuing chaos that allowed Napoleon to rise to power, dominate Europe, and eventually be defeated in the Battle of Waterloo.
